The Journey Begins from Moridug Camp
On the early morning of 11th June 2025, at approximately 06:40 hrs, a spirited team of 22 members from the Deshatan group set off from Moridug Camp on a much-anticipated trek. The team was a diverse blend of individuals – 15 men, 6 women, and even one infant – all united by a shared passion for adventure and exploration.
Members Who Reached the Summit
Among the team, members who made to the summit are:
- Soumitra Mondal (45) from West Bengal
- P. Yogesh (33) – a service professional
- P. Harita (27) – homemaker
- Naitik Agarwal (17) – a student from Odisha
- Sandeep Swain (25) and Prahalad Singh (25) – both software engineers from Kolkata
- Deepayan Chakraborty (31) – a research scholar from IIT Kharagpur
- T. Poulaya Reddy (35) – software engineer from Hyderabad
- Jaydhar Chowdhary (42) – team leader, hailing from West Bengal
First Ascent: Leading the Way
The ascent was steady, and by 12:40 hrs, Soumitra Mondal became the first member of the team to reach the summit – a proud moment for both him and the team. Following closely behind, the South Indian couple Yogesh Kumar and Haritha made their summit push and successfully reached the top at around 13:30 hrs.
Strategic Descent and Second Summit Push
As clouds began to gather, reducing visibility, the guide made a strategic decision to begin the descent with members who were either slower or had already reached their personal limits. After a quick consultation, the team leader decided to continue the summit attempt with a focused group of six members.
